Stefan (Lukas Turtur) and Andreas (Philipp Hochmair) live the adult hipster dream in Vienna – beautiful house, mid-century furniture, arts careers for an orchestra, plenty of lovely produce from the garden, and a very adorable cat called Moses. They're surrounded by music, blissfully in love, have a great sex life, and enjoy clothing-optional domestic bliss (both actors are very comfortable getting their gear off). However, one almost unthinkable event occurs, and disrupts their languid idyll, threatening the very bedrock of their relationship. Things change for the pair, and from here on in, their happily-ever-after existence comes into question. Writer-director Händl Klaus cleverly uses this one violent act to show how it only takes a moment to see someone in a different light, creating tension for the audience as well as the characters. Credit has to go to the lead actors who throw themselves into their roles with gusto and make Stefan and Andreas's world very real. Named Best Feature Film at the 2016 Teddy Awards, Tomcat is a beautifully shot, meditative film which explores the knife-edge balance in relationships and the reality of forgiveness.
